It’s always something

So, how was everyone’s weekend?

Mine was good. In New Jersey visiting the newly returned BIL!! It was great to see him, though the whole in-law house thing was ugly. They’re having their house remodled so can you say dusty? Expecially for someone with allergies (like me) it was not a fun time.

Luckily we didn’t have to spend that much time at the house. Spent a lot of time at my brother-in-laws future in-laws. So what are they to me? Ah, I guess just nice people that got us out of the dusty house.

And now it’s time for another week.

I don’t know what I’m going to do without the Olympics. They’ve pretty much ruled my life for the past two weeks!

I’m going to be getting around a bit this week.

Wednesday - Little Red releases!

Thursday - I have an author day at the Love Romances ebook club.

Saturday - I’ll be at FAR Chatters (I think all day-ish) with fellow WCPT author (and CP) Kendra Clark.

And now I have to get myself into editing mode.

And finally, but super importantly, go congratulate Steph. She sold to Blaze!!

So, what’s up for you this week?

Weekend plans

Friday, February 24th, 2006

I had to get up early this morning to take a shower since they were shutting off our water again today.

So, I’m pretty tired, especially after staying up late to watch the Olympics - women’s figure skating is kinda boring. Except when Dick Button starts being mean. That’s when the fun starts!

So, I think I already told you but I’m off to the in-laws this weekend. Off to the Garden State. Did you know that it’s some sort of wacky supernatural phenomenon that if you’re driving in New Jersey and put your car radio on scan (or maybe seek I never remember which one is which) it only takes one cycle through all the stations to find a Bruce Springsteen song?

NJ loves their Boss.

And usually only 2 circuits to find Bon Jovi.

Crazy stuff I tell you.

So, what excitement do you have planned for the weekend?

Stick a Fork in me…

I’m done!!

Yes, I worked my tail off yesterday and the Futuristic That Might Kill Me is now FINSIHED. Well, more or less. Mostly less since it still needs the final scene and lots of edits.

But still, just having the first draft done is such a tremendous weight off of my shoulders.

Anyway, I’ll probably be using most of today to catch up on the stuff I’ve been ignoring, clean my desk, etc.

I’m off for the weekend again, this time to NJ. And I’ve got another author interview on Sunday. This time it’s LSB author Darragah Foster.

I finished Bound and Determined this morning, too! Yay! I’ll have a little review on that tomorrow for Angie’s TBR Challenge.

Finally, I’m blogging over at Torrid Temptations today so come by and say hi. Do you know how people “see” you online?

Everyone else, share your happy news today!!

I’ve got the fever…olympic fever.

Tuesday, February 21st, 2006

Taxes are in the mail!! (Well, to the accountant anyway).

And I went to the grocery store, too. Got just enough stuff to get us through the next four days. Then it’s off to New Jersey for the weekend.

I’m still working on my post on “Plot.” What can I say, thinking is hard work for me.

So, is everybody else watching the Olympics? I’ve got the fever…olympic fever. I mean, who knew Ice Dancing could be so exciting?!?!

And we’ve been watching curling every night. It’s on CNBC every night at 5. Did you know a curling match/game/whatever lasts 3 hours? Each team has 75 minutes to complete the game which adds up to 3 hours. Seriously, I know more about curling than anyone (besides actual curlers) needs to know. And I still have no idea what’s going on half the time.

The Hubster is hilarious. He sits and yells at the TV, telling them that they made bad throws or that they should have done something else. He has no idea what’s going on eaither, really (though he claims that he does - he’ll come home arguing with me).

And have you heard about the naked curling calendar? (Picture at the bottom of the post). That cracks me up.

I actually think the coverage is pretty good - much better than in years past. As far as I can tell, between all of their channels, they’re showing pretty much all of the sports. But my favorite is the “Olympic Moment” with Jimmy Roberts every night on NBC.

Did you know that only 6 (now 7 I think) medals in the Winter Olympics have ever been won by countries in the southern hemisphere? And the first one was a skier from New Zealand in 1992 (their only one, the rest belong to Australia).

Women’s ice skating start tonight. Eh. I don’t know if any of you have been watching Olympic Ice on USA, but it’s really a funny show. I don’t know if an hour of figure skating analysis is neccessary every day, but Dick Button is one grumpy old man, and he’s entertaining. As is the Canadian gold medalist in pairs from last Olympics (David somethingorother), he’s funny.

Anyway, what’s your favorite Olympic sport? Or do you have any Olympic fun facts to share?

Monday Morning Stuff

Monday, February 20th, 2006

The thumping music was back last night, damn it. I pounded on the wall and he turned it down but I could still hear it. I’ll slip a note under the door sometime today.

***

I have to finish this book this week. It’s already to the point where it makes me want to cry, and unfortunately I thought of something last night that may or may not work, but it would add a lot more pages. I think I have to go with it though because if I don’t it’ll just look like a cop out.
Did I mention that this is the book that was supposed to be finished by the end of January?

***

I working on a post about “PLOT.” It made a ton of sense to me last night when I was totally exhausted but not I have to try to make sense of it during the light of day, so look for it tomorrow.

***

My BIL is back from deployment!!! He came back early to go to gun school or something but his ship is still making their way home to port. We’ll be heading to the inlaws this coming weekend to welcome him home. Did I mention that the inlaws house is half torn up? And I have a book to finish?

***

Happy President’s Day!! And Happy My Mom’s Birthday!!

***

Look over in my sidebar —-> See my pretty new cover for Spring Fling? Isn’t it beautiful? I love it. Oh, and I finally got around to moving One Hot Hour to the “Available Section.”

I did tell you all it was available, right? I’m really happy with this story, plus it’s under $3 so if you buy it and don’t like it (which I’m sure you won’t) you didn’t waist too much money. Come one, what are you waiting for?

***

So how was your weekend and what does your week hold for you?

May I be excused, my brain is full.

Thursday, February 16th, 2006

OK, sorry this post isn’t going to be all pretty and, you know, not neccessarily in paragraphs but I just gotta get it down before I forget.

April - please send me your addy since you got the “choo choo choose me” question right. I’ve got a little present for you (FYI probably won’t go out ’til Monday as I’ll be away this weekend).

Yes, I’m going to be away this weekend. Going to Pittsburgh for my Mom’s Birthday. It’ll be my first time in the ‘Burgh since the Superbowl. I’m hoping the sheer insanity hasn’t died down yet just so I can get some pictures.

Laundry is done.

Book is not.

Have to finish getting stuff together for my taxes and get them in the mail (to the accountant, not the IRS - you think I do this stuff myself?)

I have a bunch of contest entries that need my attention. I’ve skimmed enough to know that they’re really good but I still have to take the time to actually judge them. I almost think it’s easier when they suck.

And Yahoo seems to finally be letting me post messages again so I have a bunch of loop stuff to catch up on.

CNBC is showing Olymipic curling everyday at 5. Snowboard Cross apparently didn’t make it to prime time even though it totally looks kick ass and was on at 6 this morning (so I missed it). Yes, I’ve got Olympic Fever.

And…I got a bunch of books from Amazon yesterday (that’ll be a post for this weekend) and I don’t have time to read them.

So what’s on your to do list for the rest of the week (Or today which is when mine has to be finished)? *whimper*

It’s late

Wednesday, February 15th, 2006

Sorry, I slept in a bit and then forgot to blog.

So, the Hubster brought me flowers last night. Apparently there were some girls selling them near the bus stop.

Here’s the thing: I don’t like flowers.

Flowers make me sad. I like plants (though I tend to kill them) that are still, you know, alive.

So, my husband brought me flowers (knowing full well that I don’t like them) so that I’d have to tell people and he’d look so sweet and romantic.

Damn him.

I made yummy Turkey Shepards Pie last night for him. Really tasty. And he actually likes Shepards Pie.

And just for fun, here’s some pictures of the snow from the other day.

This is when it started snowing Saturday night.

This is what it looked like Sunday morning.

Brrrrr

Monday, February 13th, 2006

Last night at about 11:30 part of the power went out again.

Once again, it included the heat. It’s still not back on.

Have I mentioned that last night was the coldest night we’ve had yet this winter? It’s down to 58 degrees now. That’s a far cry form the balmy 70 it usually is in my apartment (perhaps it seems warm for some but utilities are included in rent - I should put it up even more, lol).

Like before, some things work and others don’t. Computer works but not the light in my office. Nightlight in the bathroom works (as does hot water, thank god) but not the overhead light.

Apparently the stove only gets a little bit hot as I’ve been trying to boil water for close to a half hour now.

So, if you need me, I’ll be huddled under some blankets until the heat comes back.

People Suck

Saturday, February 11th, 2006

Or why I prefer to stay inside.

Last night we had to go to the grocery store. We were seriously out of food, and while we were going to go out for dinner, we still needed food.

Friday night isn’t the best time to go to the grocery store, I’m aware of that, but when you gotta go, you gotta go.

The parking lot was already a mad houses with people walking down the middle of the road and letting their kids dart in and out between parked cars.

We went inside and shopped. I must have gotten hit by carts or kids or people at least 10 times. And even though THEY hit ME, I was the one apologizing every time. And then there were the people who had their carts SIDEWAYS accross the aisles so that no one else could get by.

I said “Excuse me,” but all I got was a ditry look. And they didn’t move.

As you can guess my blood pressure was just about at the boiling point.

They grocery store was out of milk (WTF?) and we had to wait in line for about a half hour. (Did you know they sold little mini bags of mini-marshmallows as a snack food?)

I was very cranky with a terrible headache by the time we got to the checkout. And then the checkout woman didn’t even greet us. I said “Hi.” She grunted back at me.

I ran the hell out of that store leaving the Hubster to pay. I was both livid and incredibly sad at the same time.

When did everyone start to suck?

Why do people not recognize the fact that there are other people in the world besides them?

I have to stop now before I get all upset again. But I have to say, I like living in my online world a hell of a lot better than the real one. You all are much nicer.

Monday Morning Randomness

Monday, February 6th, 2006

I’m having trouble waking up this morning. And my big old cup of coffee isn’t helping.

Must be all the excitement of the STEELERS winning last night. Surprisingly I’ve yet to have one phone call about it yet today.

***

FYI - I’ll be at the Torrid Readers Group all week if anyone wants to come by and say Hello. I’ll be sharing excerpts and answering/asking questions, trying desperately to get people to come out and play with me.

***

My goal for this week is to keep plugging along at this Futurisitc. I’m getting to the point where I think it’s going to kill me. And I most definately remember why I prefer writing short.

***

Agent Elaine English is speaking at my RWA Chapter meeting this week. She’s going to talk about Legal Issues for Writers so if anyone has any questions, let me know (either post in comments or feel free to email me). I’ll try to ask as many as I can.

***

So, what are your goals for the week?
