Let me give you my card…

Yesterday actually ended up being a really nice day.

I got lots of stuff done (though I don’t ever expect to be completely caught up on anything). The hubster came home at lunch time and spent the rest of the day kind of whiney, but he mostly entertained himself or slept (’cause you know how bad a cold can be - it could kill ya!).

Since it was a beautiful day I took my laptop outside for a bit and got some writing done. I think it was actually good, too! But then it got windy and I came back inside. I still got some more stuff done though which is a good thing.

And last night (finally to the point of the post) I started thinking about business cards.

I most definitely need new ones. I made my own two years ago and while they looked okay at the time, they haven’t really held up well. I did some searching both at VistaPrint and 123Print and found several card templates that I like.

See, I think I’ll probably re-do my website in the upcoming little bit, but I’m not sure 1, when and 2, what I’ll do. It may be as simple as getting a new header (I’m not so sure about my girly anymore). Then again, I might decide to re-do the entire thing if I come up with a new header design that I really like but doesn’t match the current color scheme. (I think I’m pretty set with how things work, I’m mostly talking about the look).

I just don’t know.

If I was sure I’d be keeping this website I’d get business cards to match, but since I probably won’t be, that leaves my business card options open.

Of course, I could get cards that would match the new theme I’m thinking of (but then what if I decide I hate it). Or I could get something totally random but may make people remember me.

I mean, really, what’s the purpose of business cards anyway?

And of course, I can’t remember what to put on the cards. All I can come up with is name, web addy, email addy and…that’s it. (That also equals writing Emma Sinclair a whole lotta times - at one point I had my blog addy on there too, but it just seemed to be too much Emma Sinclair-ing going on).

I don’t want to put my actual releases, but I guess I could put “Books Available From…”

What do you think about business cards? Do you have ‘em? What do they look like? What should mine look like?

I know cards are necessary for obvious reasons but personally I love magnets. :) When I sold pampered Chef I would take the cards and buy the magnets with sticky on them and then use some of the cards to make magnets. Not as slick as the ones somehow melted into the rubber but it worked for me. :) I could then change my ‘look’ as often as I wanted. :)

I just got come with a foggy-woodsy scene. A little spooky for my new paranormal series.

I’m thinking of doing them…for about 3 months now, so apparently it’s not top of my list. I used my reading lady, put the usual stuff on the front and then the back has books available…and that’s where I stall in the design. I think they’re handy if you plan on “networking” in person and to leave/send with your media stuff for signings and interviews.

By the way, I like your lady :-)

As I was reading this, a thought popped into my head which I think would be kind of cool. :) What if you had business cards that were shaped either like a man or like your lady up on top? That would definitely make them stand out. :)

I liked the pens. The red ones were my favorite, but the ink died because I was using them so much. *sigh*
