I wrote yesterday!

Over 4000 words!! And ya know why? The greatest thing ever is why. The Romance Diva’s mini Writing Challenges.

Whoever is interested meets in the chat room. Someone cracks the whip and then we all write for 20 minutes (sometimes its 15 minutes). When the whip cracks a second time we head back to the chat room and talk about how much we wrote. I did 3 (or maybe 4, I can’t remember) today and with some other writing I ended up with 4K!!!

During the last one I did I wrote 898 words in 20 minutes!!

I might write like this all the time!! It’s great!

Who watched the Oscars?

Monday, February 26th, 2007

Actually, I admit, I’m writing this at 7est on Sunday so they haven’t actually been on yet. But I’m about to head out the door in a few minutes to go to an Oscar party, so I’m posting now (rather than later tonight even though the post won’t show up until the Morning).

Anyway, I’ve probably seen a grand total of 5 movies in the theater this year and let me tell you, none of them were awards worthy.

So, I will be picking winners on something other than how good the movie was. Maybe how crazy the people are dressed. Maybe something else altogether.

I made my famous mint brownies for the party but I forgot to take them out of the oven. I don’t think they’re burned, and they probably taste fine, but they’re not attractive. And while they sounded great in the grocery store, I don’t know if “Lil Smokies” are really sophisticated Oscar party food.

But hopefully it’ll be fun anyway. Did you watch? How’d your favorites do?

Update Monday morning: Yeah, so I lost our Oscar poll big time with a total of 4 correct guesses (and yes, they were guesses). I totally would have kicked ass had underdogs swept the awards, though.

And I thought Ellen was hilarious. They were insanely long, but I liked it more than I have in years past. The crazy dancers that “acted out” the movies were really cool. Though the highlight of the night may have been the Will Ferrell/Jack Black musical number!

But my questions remain…how did your favorites do? What’d you think of the show?

20 Angels!!

Sunday, February 25th, 2007

And 2 recommended reads!!

Yep, yesterday I got 4 reviews from Fallen Angel Reviews. 5 Angels each!!

How happy am I?

goldenangel.jpg goldenangel.jpg

Here’s some highlights, but you can click on the title to read more:

Tempting Fate (RR) - I just cannot say enough good things about Tempting Fate or its author Emma Sinclair.

Loving Fate (RR) - Great Gods and Goddesses I can’t stop crying! This was the most heartfelt story I have ever read. Emma Sinclair is a writing Goddess herself.

Fighting Fate - Emma Sinclair makes me laugh, cry, stomp my feet, get angry and rejoice at the same time. She is one of those rare authors who are able to combine a multitude of emotions in both the plot and the characters.

Torrid Teasers Vol 10 featuring Hot Stuff - Two hot to trot stories in one great book! Now that is a winner in my opinion. Not only are they steamy with some hot scenes, the characters endear themselves into your heart as they become all that they can be.

Hee Hee!! Sorry, but this was totally worth a bragging post to me!

Nalini Singh Meme

Saturday, February 24th, 2007

So, I don’t think it’s a big secret that I’m a Nalini Singh fan. And it’s not just cause we share the same birthday (which we do, and I like to point out at every opportunity).

But she’s doing another meme for her upcoming Psy/Changling book that comes out…not nearly soon enough for me (Okay, I checked it comes out March 6, and I think she has a Desire out now).

Because I’m all about helping out my birthday buddies, I decided to play along.

The VISIONS OF HEAT meme

1. Which psychic power would you most like to possess? I think I’d want to be able to read minds. What can I say, I’m nosy.

2. If you could see the future, what would you like to see?Me living happily ever after. Duh. And being the next Nora wouldn’t be bad.

3. Imagine you woke up one day and could shapeshift - what would you shift into?A seal. Perhaps a dolphin or a whale (obviously I wouldn’t shift while I was at home. I’d go to the ocean first). I think I’d like to be a sea creature. Of course depending on where I was, maybe a fly on the wall would be just fine.

4. What kind of a paranormal creature would you invite over for dinner if there were no limits on who you could ask? Preferably one that wouldn’t hurt me. Of course if he was a sexy man paranormal creature, maybe I wouldn’t mind so much.

5. Which future innovation do you wish would hurry up and get here already? i.e. flying cars, a transporter, computers with artificial intelligence, an auto chef? Can I just live in the Jetson’s house? If not, I want one of those things that gets me out of bed, showers and dresses me and then plops me down at breakfast (ala Wallace and Grommit).

This meme was begun by Nalini Singh to get the word out about her next book, Visions of Heat (releasing March 6). Want to play, too, and enter to win a $50 Amazon voucher plus an ARC? Click here for details.

Will the fun ever start?!?!

Friday, February 23rd, 2007

Ugh.

So, the good thing is I finally got some writing done yesterday. Unfortunatly, I had to put the computer aside and write long hand to do so.

This morning I woke up with edits for my story Welcome to the Darkness (part of the Edge of Night Anthology - I just put the cover on the sidebar, isn’t it pretty? And it’s prettier full size.) Anyway, I haven’t actually looked at them yet, but I’m guessing they’re going to be pretty involved. This story kicked my ass the first time so I doubt this time is going to be any different.

Then the inlaws are coming to visit tomorrow. They’re bringing lunch (which means I can be lazy and don’t have to go to the grocery store)! And I think we’re going to go to the Home Show.

We don’t have a home (we rent) and they just finished major renovations on theirs so I’m not sure really why we’re going, but it should still be fun, I hope. I worked at the home show several years ago when I lived in Seattle and the most fun was always walking around to see all the exhibits. So…

My plan for today?

1. Type in what I wrote yesterday
2. Crit for RD mentee
3. Crit for CP (behind on this already)
4. Tackle Darkness edits
5. Handle everything else that comes up so I can have a relaxing day on Sunday with nothing to do.

Anybody want to take bets on #5 happening? Yeah, I’ll be against myself, lol!

Any fun plans fo you this weekend?

Damn network

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007

So, there was an RWAOL chat last night. I also was supposed to IM with the PI VP Emma.

And what happened?

My network kept crapping out on me.

I have wireless networking for my laptop, and it’s been happening ever since the hubster got his new computer. And it happens much more in the evening than when I’m hope alone during the day.

I think one thing is clear. It’s all the hubsters fault.

So, if you need to get in touch with me in the evening in the next little bit - well, good luck with that. I seem to be good to go in the day time, but…

It’s always something isn’t it?

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

OK, it’s been like a week and a half since I’ve written a word. And I’m not sure if I’ve actually visited blogs in all that time either. And I haven’t been good at all about keeping up with most of my groups and loops.

*Fingers crossed* I hope that I can say that I’m pretty much caught up now though. Caught up. Not ahead.

I don’t think I’ll ever be ahead.

But, with a little bit of luck I’ll get some writing done tomorrow and still be able to keep up with the other stuff.

Still, as busy as I’ve been, I really like everything I’ve been doing.

I’m finally getting a hang of my PI duties, and have some great board members who are doing good stuff.

And I’m being an RD mentor and I’m really enjoying working with my mentee.

And I’ve got something to crit for my CP who I haven’t really worked with in quite a while ’cause we’ve both been busy with other stuff.

My mom visited this weekend and we went to NYC (again) and then drove out to the north fork of Long Island and visited some LI wineries.

So, I’m busy, but it’s all good.

How’s everybody else doing?

Catching up

Tuesday, February 20th, 2007

Remember how I was swamped before the weekend?

I’m ready to cry now.

Swamped

Saturday, February 17th, 2007

I am swamped.

And for someone with as much to do as me, I haven’t really done anything this week.

And since my mom is visiting this weekend, it’s not looking like that I’ll be getting anything done any time soon.

What’s everyone else doing this weekend?
