My exciting weekend

Happy Halloween!!

Thanks for all the well wishes for my release yesterday! Beleive it or not, that was #12. All since A Walk on the Wild Side released last November.

Is it any wonder I’m as skatterbrained as I am?

Anyway, I did get a fair bit done at Starbucks yesterday and I’m feeling pretty good about starting NaNo on Wednesday. The one problem I have is that this book really seems to want to be told in 1st person - from the hero’s POV!

But, that’s a post for another day…onto my weekend…

So, Saturday, the hubster and I were sleeping in. It was one of those wake up and then go back to bed things, when all of a sudden we were awoken for real by a lound noise. And the power went out.

We got up, showered in the dark (luckily we have oil heat) and sat by the windows trying to read. As it was a CRAZY windy and sometimes stormy day, this wasn’t as easy at it may seem.

Anyway, we’re sitting around when we notice electric company guys in our back yard. They seem to be mostly staring at the telephone pole in our backyard. They climb it, but then they leave.

A few hours later, still in the dark mind you, we heard a popping noise and then a sizzle. It took us a good half hour to realize what it was. I was minding my own business when the hubster came rushing into the room yelling “the bush in the backyard is on fire.”

He overreacted a bit. Okay, a lot.

But, the electric company guys were back and there was a downed powerline in our backyard which was sparking when it hit the bushes (which was often since it was way windy).

It would have been great if I could’ve made microwave popcorn, but alas I couldn’t. But I did spend the rest of the day (once it got too dark to read) watching electrical workers in the backyard. Alas, there wasn’t a sexy one in the bunch.

At one point there were 5 big electric trucks in front of the house. They replaced the transformer in the back yard.

And never, in the hours they were here and the whole time I was watching, did they speak to us. We had to go out for dinner (obviously) and the power came back about 10 minutes after we got home. Perfect timimg.

That evening we went to a Halloween party, but well, that’s another post in itself.

So, I know it’s already Tuesday, but what’d you do this weekend? And what are you doing for Halloween tonight?

On, and I’m blogging at SEx as part of Morning After.

Nothing! Hubby and I had a scary movie night on Sat and football on Sunday. It was crazy windy here too, we had to bring everything from the yard in the house! But, no power outages…thank God, I can’t miss football! LOL

Tonight, it’s bowling…so no trick or treating! :-(

    Happy Halloween!

    With Love,
    Tara M.

I had a boring weekend compared to you!!

We made Halloween cookies on Sat and carved pumpkins on Sun. Very busy! Tonight we trick or treat - daughter is a cheerleader and son is Dracula. Fun fun!

Your weekend sounds crazy! Share the details about the costume party, please. :D

We didn’t get the crazy wind until yesterday. Man, it blew all day! The power only blinked a couple of times, thank goodness.

My sympathies on the less-than-scrumptious electric linemen — I can totally relate. Touching a live wire is the only way any of OURS will ever be considered “hotties.” :D

I love storms. The past few Halloweens we’ve been buried in snow, but this year the weather is sunny and warm. I kind of miss snow. I’m ready.

    Happy Halloween and new release!

What a nightmare losing power this time of year!

No Halloween plans this year. Just staying in, bloghopping, relaxing. We had three trick-or-treaters tonight. How boring is that?
