Author Interview - Kate Willoughby
Today’s author interview is with Kate Willoughby, fellow LSB Author.
What’s your favorite movie?
My favorite movie? It figures you’d start me off with a question I can’t answer. It’s too hard to narrow down to just one. You’ll have to settle for the top five: Emma, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Beauty and the Beast, Pretty Woman, and The Sound of Music. From the preponderance of romantic movies, it’s obvious to see how I lean.
If there was a warrant for your arrest and you had to escape the country, where would you go?
Oh, that’s an easy one. I’d go to Italy. Love the food, the people, the language. I think I was Italian in another life. My husband and eldest son would probably love living so close to the Alps where he could ski to his heart’s content. I, of course, from eating all the pasta and pizza, would only be able to roll down the hill.
If you were in a situation where you could shoot the most annoying person/thing you could think of, throw it’s body in a rapidly flowing river without ever being caught, would you do it?
Unfortunately, my conscience is on call 24/7 and over-developed, especially for something merely annoying. Now, put me in that situation with Osama Ben Laden or someone else truly evil, I got no problem, as long as his death is 100% certain.
Do you suffer from any of those things that prohibit you from going on roller coasters (ie, motion sickness, back and neck pain, heart condition, under 46 inches tall, etc)? Do you like roller coasters?
I am not a roller coaster person, unless it’s the kind that has just twists and turns and not a lot of drops. It’s the drops that kill me. I do not enjoy feeling my stomach in my throat. Bummer that I live ten minutes away from Six Flags Magic Mountain, huh!
If you were a pie, what kind of pie would you be?
What type of pie would I be? I’d probably be a fruit tart, because they’re small and cheerful-looking. Not your ordinary pie, but not the kind of dessert that tries to hard to impress.
If you were to choose a vegetable most resembling your personality, what veggie would you pick and why? (Note: Tomato is a fruit).
More food questions! What constitutes a Kate vegetable? I think an artichoke. They’re round, like me. ;) They’re unusual, and I like to think I stand out from the crowd. They’re an acquired taste. They have thorns and I can sometimes be prickly, but inside, at the heart, they’re pure yumminess!
What thought first crosses your mind when you hear, “Once upon a time…”?
When I think of “Once upon a time…” I think of fairy tales. I loved them as a child and love them now. They are often about princesses, which I fancied I was, or at least had aspirations to be.
Which Disney character are you most like, and why?
I’m not Cinderella. She worked too hard at cleaning, and I am so not a good housekeeper! Snow White was a wimp. Ariel? Her boobs are way too perky. I’d need a pair of good push-up shells to be her. I think I’m most like Belle from Beauty and the Beast. That girl loved books, and that is me all over. Nose in a book all the time. Those people who say they don’t have time to read? Ha. I can always find a few minutes to read even if it means losing some sleep.
What is the most attractive trait you could hope for in the opposite sex?
The most attractive trait in the opposite sex? Hmmm. Physically, I’d say I find a well-developed set of shoulders to be quite appealing. That’s one of the reasons, of all the sports on TV, I sometimes don’t mind watching basketball. Their uniforms don’t hid the arms and shoulders.
Who was your favorite character in “Star Wars”?
My favorite character in “Star Wars” must be Han Solo. I’m not a fan of this second incarnation of S.W. movies, or even the sequels to the first one, which I think stands heads and shoulders (ooh, shoulders again!) above the others. First of all, Harrison Ford played him. Second, he came through at the end to save the day, conquering his greed, but still managing to remain his cocky self.
Be sure to check out her books here. And if I do say so myself, she’s got some fabulous covers!
Note from Emma: This will be my last author interview for awhile. I’ve been busier than expected and haven’t been getting them up on time. Hopefully they’ll resume this fall when I have a bit more time on my hands.
