Gone again & Viral marketing

Friday, June 16th, 2006

I know, I’ve been home for 5 days and I’m leaving again. *Sigh*

We’re heading to New Jersey this afternoon to stay with the hubsters parents (and go to a suprise wedding shower - shhh don’t tell). Then on Saturday afternoon we’ll be heading off to Long Island to look for a place to live.

Apparently I’ll get to meet his new co-workers and see the place where he’ll work. And one of his new co-workers is having us over to dinner.

I’m a little nervous. I’m much better with people via computer than I am in person.

Anyway, long story short, I’ll be away from the computer, probably until Tuesday morning.

Since I’m going to be gone for a few days, this seems like a good opportunity to announce my new viral marketing campaign since this post will sit here for a few days.

I’m a bit behind promoting Tempting Fate, my first Liquid Silver release. And Loving Fate should be coming out soon, so I’m going to kill two birds with one stone.

So, I’m making this offer:

For anyone who purchases Tempting Fate before the end of June and reviews it on her blog or website (not necessarily before the end of June), I’ll send them a free copy of Loving Fate when it releases (which should be within the next few weeks).

1. Tempting Fate must be purchased before the end of June (depending on how things go I may extend this offer - this is my first time doing this so I’m flying by the seat of my pants here). Your copy of Loving Fate will not be given until a review of Tempting Fate is posted.

2. If this offer turns out to be much more popular than I’m anticipating I reserve the right to cap the number of free books at 50 (which would make this first come first served). If you definately want to participate feel free to email ASAP.

3. You MUST post a REAL review. It doesn’t have to be a good review, but an honest review. Not just, “it’s good, read it.” (This isn’t an offical rule, but I’d appriciate if you don’t make me cry if you hate it.)

4. Since, like I said, this is a new thing, I reserve the right to add/change rules if necessary (though I can’t imagine anything too big).

Edited to Add:

Rule 5: If you don’t have a blog, website, or myspace, or somewhere else to post a review, email me and we can work something out to have the review posted here.

6. You must email me (emma@emmasinclair.com) a link to where the review is posted and your choice of format for Loving Fate (.pdf, .html, .etc). Also, keep the receipt email from LSB as proof that you purchased Tempting Fate. (I trust that the majority of people will be honest, but I don’t want one person ruining it for everyone).

And just a reminder - you can purchase Tempting Fate here. Have a great weekend!

I’ve got the Fever

Thursday, June 15th, 2006

…World Cup Fever.

I don’t know what’s wrong with me. Yesterday I watched with bated breath the Saudi Arabia vs. Tunisia match. I didn’t even know where Tunisia was until I looked it up (it’s a small North African country boardered by the Mediteranian, the Sahara, Algeria and Lybia).

As most of you American’s know, Soccer or “Football” isn’t really big in this country. Which actually sucks. I can’t imagine people would rather watch something as horribly boring as baseball over soccer. Maybe it’s because people are jealous ’cause there’s no way they could run non-stop for 90 minutes (ok so there’s a half time but it’s still damn impressive).

And I’m not a pot calling the kettle black here. I like soccer. I always watch it if it’s on TV (not often) and flip by it. And I’ve even been to a DC United game!

Soccer really should be more popular in the states, I mean what is there not to love?

Current Reading

Wednesday, June 14th, 2006

I had a really good idea for a post, but wouldn’t you know, I forgot it. I hate when that happens!!

So, I’ll just ask a simple question. What is everybody reading?

I’ve actually got 2 books going at the moment. I’m reading Wicked - I started this one on my plane ride and am about half way through. It’s good, but it’s very different than the musical (or at least the musical soundtrack).

And as I was bored this morning, sitting in the Hubsters office, I picked up Freakonomics, A rogue economist explores the hidden side of everything. I’m maybe a chapter and a half into it, but so far it’s really interesting!

What are you reading?

Did someone close the internet and not tell me?

Tuesday, June 13th, 2006

It is SLOOOW here in blogland - all around the internet, really.

I suppose it’s because it’s summer, kids are out of school, people are on vacation and stuff. But still that doesn’t make me feel better of the extreme tankage of my stats over the past few weeks. And I’m sure me being on vacation (and boring you with vacation pictures) doesn’t really help things much either.

And my summer is really not looking much better in the coming weeks/months. Actually, July looks okay, except for the end, but the rest of June and August are shaping up to be horrible!!

I don’t have a weekend left in June. They’re all planned already.

Then we found out we’re officially moving to Long Island and that will be in August (though we’re not sure when yet. I have one important thing planned for August and unfortunately it’s the weekend that would probably be most ideal to move).

And eventually I have to find time to finish this damn fate book - they will have a happy ending if it kills me (which it just might), and actually do some promo for the releases I’ve had the past few weeks - which I’ve done NONE for yet.

Ugh.

Is it fall yet?

Remember me?

I’m home now! Back to Maryland where it’s about 20 degrees cooler and much less humid (though this isn’t normal for this kind of year it’s very nice).

I had a really good time but at the same time I’m happy to be home.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get as much done on my trip as I’d hoped. I did manage to keep up with most things so at least I didn’t get behind, but I still haven’t finished the third fate book.

I’m so close to being finished, I just can’t manage to write it. Plus, I still don’t know exactly how I can pull off the happy ending - that’s a bit of a problem isn’t it?

I did write one kick ass scene though that I unfortunately don’t think is as good as it needs to be. Still, I was almost crying as I wrote it. So I’ve got the black moment, I just don’t know how to resolve everything.

Damn it.

So, what’s everyone else working on? Has anyone else ever had this problem or are you all much smarter with your planning?

[edit: If you have a blogger blog, I’m not ignoring you. I’m reading but the damn thing only lets me post occasionally and has for the last week or so.]

I realize that a lot of people don’t really care about my vacation pictures and I’m totally okay with that. But I just haven’t had time to do a real blog since I’ve been in Florida and I figure it’s better than nothing at all.

But I promise, I’ll be back to real blogging on Monday (I hope). As for now, here’s more pictures.

We saw some Manatees. As you can see, this guy was missing a flipper (and his back tail flipper thing was pretty messed up, too).

I haven’t seen any aligators in the wild yet (though I did think of lying to you all and saying that I saw these in Nat’s backyard) so these guys are going to have to do.

(You don’t need to know this buy I just had to take a break from blogging to go play with the dogs. Nat has the pug and then we’re dogsitting a Boston terrier - they’re hilarious).

There were lots of Sea lions playing and they seemed extra happy as it was starting to rain. There were seals, too but I don’t think any in this particular picture. Who knows the difference between a sea lion and a seal?

These cool yellow fish were in the aquarium.

And we got to see even more of the big old walrus at the last show of the day before dashing to the car in the rain.

I love SeaWorld!! There used to be on in Ohio that we went to regularaly (and Nat grew up 5 minutes from) but I haven’t been there in a few years.

Clyde and Seamore were always my favorites.

But I think if I could be any marine mammal, I’d be a walrus.

The Shamu show was kind of lame. I don’t know if anyone else has seen the commercials, but it’s not worth all the hype. The other shows were better. Still, I got this cool picture.

For instance, the whale and dolphin show had whales and dolphins (duh) plus birds and acrobats and divers and stuff. I admit, it was weird, but fun.

I actually have enough pictures for 2 days worth of SeaWorld photos, so I’ll leave you with a happily swimming dolphin.

Sorry

Didn’t have time to post pictures today but…

DOUBLE JEOPARDY (formerly the book that will kill me) is now available from Venus Press. For your convenience, I’ll include a link - you can purchase it (or find out more) here

For fifteen years, Cal has been searching for his brother AJ. He’s finally tracked down AJ’s location, the island of Malory, a place where men live more like animals than humans. But to get AJ off the island, he’s going to need the help of an expert tracker.

Cal is convinced that Di, former tracker, now semi-respectable nightclub owner is the only one that can help him, even if it’s against her will.

In a society where family is outlawed and sexes aren’t supposed to intermingle, things are about to get complicated.

I’ll try to post more Orlando pics tomorrow! Hope everyone is having a great week!

The second day we went to Universal Studios.

The best part of that was the Mummy ride. I believe, if you read this blog with any kind of regularity, you probably know about my extreme LOVE for the Mummy movies. We actually rode it early in the morning and liked it so much we waited for an hour later in the day to ride it again.

They had lots of shows at Universal and we got to see Frank the pug from Men In Black.

Natalie has a pug, too. This is Bentley.

Surprisingly, they didn’t sell suits for dogs anywhere in the park.

And though this doesn’t have anything to do with my trip, Double Jeopardy is going to be released tomorrow from Venus Press - perfect for summer reading!

I’m back in Port St. Lucie, FL until Saturday now. We’ll probably do some fun stuff this week (although it is fun just having girl time) but I figured I’d start sharing some pictures from this past weekend. I’ll try to do some every day this week, though I don’t know if I’ll have a normal blogging time.

This is Islands of Adventure. Don’t you just love the palm trees?

Here’s us with Wolverine. I usually don’t post pictures of myself on here - on purpose by the way. I’d love to take credit for being the tall skinny one, but alas, I’m not. But I posted this picture anyway ’cause I think it looks like Wolverine is trying to protect his crotch from us.

The evening after Islands of Adventure, we went to Downtown Disney. We got yummy sandwiches for dinner but mostly went so we could get bread pudding for dessert. It was a cup of toasted bread with caramel and vanilla sauces to pour over. And yes, I actually very often take pictures of my food.
