The weekend’s here!

Saturday, April 29th, 2006

All right - give me the weekend to think about some interesting way to give out the pens (don’t worry, it won’t be hard) and to get my tush in gear an order some magnets (which I’ve been meaning to do for months) and then maybe I’ll do some kind of promo giveaway thing.

I’m glad you’re all interested in the pens though! And I’m totally not ignoring you - beleive me, I want to get them out of my house!

In other news, I got yet another fabulously beautiful cover from April over at Liquid Silver Books. This is the second of the Fate books.

I love it so much it just makes me want to SQUEEEE!!! Can’t wait to see the third one, but first I have to write the damn book!

Anyway, I’m off to Maryland day at the University of Maryland and I’ve already got a roast in the crock pot that will hopefully shred up nicely for sandwiches for dinner (hopefully).

Tomorrow, I’m hoping for a day of sleeping in and then…nothing. Fingers crossed.

What are your plans for the weekend?

500 pens

Friday, April 28th, 2006

It should be illegal to wake up with both a headache and a back ache. Especially on a Friday.

I think I may take the day off - but that makes it sound like I actually got something accomplished this week. And aside from the miriad of chats, I really didn’t do much writing wise?

But what did I do?

Well, I got 500 pens in the mail yesterday! Now, will someone please tell me what in the hell I’m going to do with 500 pens?

They’re cool though, Silver barrel with a red cap and red ink. The writing is black so it kind of matches my website and it doesn’t look like every other pen out there (I hope). And the writing on the barrel is nice and big so everyone will know it’s EMMA SINCLAIR’s pen.

Now I just have to, you know, give them to people. I don’t leave the house, who in the hell am I supposed to give them to? The Neil Young lookalike and Cletus the slack jawed yokel who came to fix the dyer vent yesterday?

Upcoming news

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

I don’t know if you noticed but over there in the side bar I’ve added a new cover. It’s for my Venus Press Release Double Jeopardy. No exact release date yet, but it’s for Gemini in the Mystical Signs series so sometime when Gemini is (May/June).

I haven’t posted a “real” cover here yet ’cause I didn’t have the right size, but I do know, so here it is!

Isn’t it sexy? All of the Mystical Signs Series have the same cover, but I really like the pinkness of mine!

Also, I finished all the edits for Tempting Fate, so I should be getting a release date for that soon too. My awesome editor for the first fate book just got assigned Loving Fate too so I’m excited!!

Next week is the Passionate Ink Book in a Week and I SO need it! I’m really going to have to write Fighting Fate in it’s entirety next week! 100 pages though, so totally doable if I actually, you know, write and not procrastinate.

Oh, and Liquid Silver Books Authors are at The Pink Posse Chatroom ALL DAY today (I’m there from 1-3 and probably in & out the rest of the day) so stop by and say hi!

I had to download a new browser just to get there myself because my old browser wasn’t cooperating (which doesn’t make sense since I was just there a week ago).

Sometimes computers suck.

Anyway, anybody else have news to share? Anybody having successful writing days? Get over a plot hump? Anything good?

Damn spammers!!!

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

My blog keeps getting spammed, damn it!!

I know everyone on the interweb has one of these posts every few months, but damn it, it’s annoying! See, all of the obvious spam gets caught by my spam filter, so every few weeks I just go and delete it all. Annoying yes, but no big deal.

But the damn spammers are getting smarter. Now they’re posting in the regular comments, but not with tons of links that get caught by the spam filter, but honestly with scary, freaky ass comments.

Hopefully this will just be a temporary thing. I really don’t want to have to start moderating all of my comments. Damn spammers.

In other news, maintenace is finally supposed to come fix my dryer vent today! You may remember a few weeks ago when they came in and checked and left me a note saying “birds can’t get in apartment.”

Well, that was true, but it didn’t stop the birds from nesting in the damn dryer vent! So eventually the Hubster put duct tape on the vent, which kept the birds away, but also meant we couldn’t use the dryer.

So today, not only are we supposed to get a bird proof vent, they’re also supposed to come in and clean out all the sticks and stuff that the birds already left in there!

What can I say, my life is boring, this is the most excitement I get.

What’s your excitement for the week?

Smelling memories

Tuesday, April 25th, 2006

Obviously I’m back from Cleveland. It was a fun trip.

Sorry I didn’t have a real post here yesterday but I was busy working on all of the catch up stuff. And you know what? I think I’m finished.

I actually think I’m caught up!

It’s a very disconcerting feeling, one I don’t think I’ve ever felt before. The stuff I have to do for the rest of the week is totally manageable. I should actually have EXTRA time to write, not have to fit it in between other things.

Isn’t that weird?

Anyway, while we were in Cleveland exploring our old stoming grounds, we managed to sneak into our old dorm (okay, it wasn’t really sneaking, we walked right in - obviously security hasn’t increased since we lived there years ago)!

We were able to peek into both of our old rooms and explore some of the common areas. But, the most interesting part was walking into the stairwell. The stairs smelled excactly as I remembered them!

And all of a sudden, with the musty grossness, memories started flooding back!

What smells tend to spark your memories (and hopefully they’re a bit more plesent smelling than “college dorm stair smell”)?

Today’s post…

is at SEx.

I’m talking about Fate so come on over and play with me. Please? As of right now I’m all alone over there.

Author Interview - Kristina Diesen & Barb Baldwin

Sunday, April 23rd, 2006

Kristina Diesen is a brand new author, with her story in Spring Flings being her first release! But Kristina’s no one-hit-wonder, she’s got another story coming in August, her story Wet, Wild and Willing will be a Torrid Teaser with MY story Hot Stuff!

If you could only watch one movie again for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Shining Through. It’s an older film starring Melanie Griffith and Michael Douglas mostly set in Nazi Germany. I had to watch it once for high school history and loved the romance story behind it so much I purchased it that same week. I think I even started writing shortly after that. I cry every time I watch it though, multiple times.

If you were a Bond Girl what would you want your name to be?
Do Bond Girls even need names? I mean as long as James Bond was keeping me out of trouble and likely my clothes as well, I don’t think I’d care what he called me. Love, darling, pet, etc.

What’s your favorite animal at the Zoo?
Gosh, it’s been so long. Still, I’d have to say hands down the elephants. They always seemed friendly and you could pay to ride on their backs. That was and still is when I go with the family to the circus my favorite part.

Do you have any tattoo’s? If not, where would you get one and what would you get?
Nope and I never will. I suffer from a classic case of needle fear. However, if they ever develop a creative way to tattoo without the pain and suffering and it lasted longer than stick-on’s, I think a Celtic design across my lower back/waist line would look pretty awesome.

Can you roll your tongue? Touch your tongue to your nose? Do any other bizarre tricks with your body?
Absolutely. Can’t even get close. None that I care to share.

Barbara currently has 4 releases with WCPT. Her story How Far Will You Go, has been a bestseller for several months. She also has several more upcoming releases from WCPT.

If you could obliterate the career of one musician, who would it be?
Oh, that’s an unfair question. Anyone I say is going
to have a fan out there who hates me! I used Yanni and
Dave Matthews Band in my newest book — Fantasies
Delivered, so it’s certainly not them! How about we
get rid of Liberache (see, I know I don’t like him
since I can’t even spell his name!)
Emma’s note: I did not come up with this question, I got it from a book of ice breakers. So far, everyone has refused to answer the question but I swear I’m not the one that came up with it!

What is your favorite movie?
It’s got to be Pretty Woman. I LOVE Richard Gere! And
I love the idea that bad girl makes good; from rags to
riches — you get the idea. But most of all, it has a
happy ending!

If there was a warrant for your arrest and you
had to escape the
country, where would you go?

If I tell you, they’ll find me!

If you were in a situation where you could shoot
the most
annoying person/thing you could think of, throw it’s
body in a
rapidly flowing river without ever being caught, would
you do it?

Only in my books! I have been known to kill my boss a
time or two. Writing is a great way to get rid of
annoying characters and frustrating jobs!

Do you suffer from any of those things that
prohibit you from
going on roller coasters (ie, motion sickness, back
and neck pain,
heart condition, under 46 inches tall, etc)? Do you
like roller
coasters?

I used to sit in the very front seat, hands in the air
and scream all the way down! Of course, that was when
I was about 12. Then I grew up, and now I can’t ride
roller coasters anymore. Isn’t it a pity we become
adults and see reality more often than fantasy?

Don’t forget to check out other releases from these authors!

Dum Dum Da Dum

Saturday, April 22nd, 2006

That was the wedding march! Get it?

Yep, so today’s officially the wedding day which is good ’cause the in-laws are getting to be quite the little cranky pants!! I think that should be Reason #1 why Emma doesn’t like weddings. People get cranky!!

So the Hubster is off this morning to get ready with ‘the boys,’ leaving me to fend for myself.

Anyway, obviously I don’t have anything to say, but I don’t have anything to do either, hence my posting anyway.

Come play with me at Torrid Temptations tomorrow where I’m going to talk about - what else - Weddings (yes, again!). There will be questions and PRIZES (so send all your friends, too!)

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! And I apologize for not responding to comments left lately, while I do obviously have internet access here at the hotel, it’s not the greatest (plus there’s that whole lack of time thing).

Is it just me?

Friday, April 21st, 2006

What is it about hotels that make you feel so gross? It may be the forced air, but I live in an apartment building where I have the heat/air on pretty much year round so I don’t think that’s it.

It could be the thought of sleeping where so many people have slept before me, too. That is a little creepy when you think about what people have done in the bed that will be yours for a few nights. Ick.

As you can guess, I’m in Cleveland.

After driving for 7 hours yesterday (we left during rush hour, not a smart idea) we got here, checked into our hotel, only to realize we forgot our garmet bag that had DH’s suit for the rehersal dinner and my dress for the wedding. Oops.

Luckily the hubster is in the wedding so he has a rented tux to wear for that (rented clothes are another thing that I prefer not to think too much about).

But we still needed clothes for the rehersal dinner. And yay us, 40 minutes after realizing we forgot out clothes, we had new duds. God Bless Target! (I didn’t say they weren’t cheap clothes - you gotta do what you gotta do).

Today we’re going to go exploring our old stomping grounds. Should be fun!

Anybody have any big plans for the weekend?

Pandas!

Thursday, April 20th, 2006

When I promise Panda’s, I deliver.

As I’m probably somewhere between Maryland and Ohio at the moment (I guess that would be Pennsylvania) having set my blog to post automatically, enjoy this panda cuteness. Sorry, it may be slow to those of you with dial-up.

As you may or may not know, the National Zoo is home to Panda’s. Three of them to be exact, and one of them is a nine month old baby Panda. You have to wait in line to see them, but once you get there, it’s kind of like a free for all - much like all of DC.

Anyway, Mama and Baby Panda were sitting near the door to their enclosure. Obviously they knew something good was coming.

Baby Panda would lean against Mama Panda and then Mama would move away, causing Baby to fall over. Obviously Panda’s aren’t the most intelligent creatures because this happened several times.

What was the fun thing they were waiting for? BOXES!!

Baby Panda didn’t want to play with his at first, so the zookeeper had to carry him to the box.

But once he got there, he seemed to like it!

He even decided to take it for a walk with him.

Mama got her own box.

Daddy Panda just slept in the neighboring enclosure.
