Procrastination? What's that? I wouldn't have a clue... I work all day... I surf the web, I read blogs, I blog, I read the articles that pop up on Yahoo... I take stupid Blogthings quizzes and discover if someone painted me, it would be Salvador Dali. Oh yeah, and in all of this I do research for the wip I'm writing on the side. Gee, if only I could find more time for that.

Hmmm... I wonder where all my time is going!?!

Oh yeah, I'm not sure on the myspace thing, but I have a few friends who seem to spend way too much time on there. And then they keep talking about their "friends" like I'm not one since I'm not one on there. It's a conspiracy I think. Maybe I should check it out so I can be cool too.

Emma-*sigh* Procrastination is my friend? Enemy? It kind of depends on when you ask me. LOL! Just to tell you how bad I am, I have a copy of "The Idiot's Guide to Curing Procrastination" and I haven't read it yet. LOL! That is bad!

As for myspace, I have one. Unless you've got a gazillion friends and all that, it's not much of a timewaster. I have 2 friends I email via myspace and that's about it. It's a great way to stay in contact w/ people who are too lazy to use regular email. I enjoy it.

Hope you have luck with the whole procrastination thing. If you find a cure, shoot me an email, would ya? Have a great night! *waving bye*

Emma, when you find the answer, please tell me ASAP. I too struggle big time with procrastination. I can't even begin to express it.

I'll give myself all sorts of reasons why I should be doing something else besides writing. Anything from, I can't think of anything to write, to my AC filter needs changing. You name it. I procrastinate it. Help!

hm, the way I get over the procrastination this is to bribe...er...REWARD myself with something. If you write for two hours you can have a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup. If you finish this chapter you can go to the bookstore and buy that book you want. Etc. I'm so easy...

Not that this works everytime....

My SIL has a myspace thingy. I think it does take up lots of time. So if you need to procrastinate MORE, then it's the thing for you. LOL

Thanks guys.

I know there have been times that I haven't procrastinated, but I don't know what changes.

*sigh*

I'll just keep plugging along...

Emma - You make me smile... I've been fighting the same thing with my <i>Six Months & Counting</i> ms. I <i>know</i> the why of my procrastination. In fact, I have a list ten feet long of the <i>why's</i>. All very good excuses too. :)

Everything from designing a blog spot, to a web site, then another web site as 'something' wasn't quite right. Then another. And another and (actually lost count) finally another, almost from scratch as I was learning enough to really want to play.... :) I then began to delve into css, which is really, really cool but... I had promised myself to have this ms back in the mail by now.

Then of course there are things like, kids, a husband and something that sounds like 'meals' to be taken care of... :) Annoying <i>tasks</i> that cut into my play time on learning css! Just kidding! :)

Anyway, I think you get the idea... I have been writing for years. Only this past year did I decide to see about getting published. And this 'procrastination' bug that got me was totally new to my base personality. When its come to writing I've never had a hard time getting into the groove. In this particular case I think it has come about because I've worked on this one story only for sooo long. (Rewriting it and all - it has been a good thing - I think the book is a ton better for it) But the good news is... I've gotten back in the groove and the last couple of days, I've made great progess! Only... I don't know what I did differently. :( Sorry.

Your probably thinking, ok, she just said all that and doesn't have an answer!!!! Your completely right. All I know is that I kept sitting down to write some each day and wham! suddenly I was 'working' again! Not just piddling around. I wish that I had an answer for you. All I can say is, just keep at it and hopefully, maybe it'll even be today, you'll suddenly find that your back again, full steam ahead! :) You might even find that it was helpful -- your 'break' of sorts that is.

Good luck! Cole

I've no idea. If I did know how to avoid procrastination, I probably wouldn't be at the computer right now. :P

As for the Myspace thing though, I'm sure the fine print reads something like, "...Warning: Will induce severe cases of procrastination and may lead to lack of time to pursue real life goals..." Especially if you're not well-versed in CSS when editing your profile. And even if you are, it's still kind of annoying.
