I just think it's overanalyzed:shock:

Most signs say Happy Holidays so the businesses don't have to buy two different ones. lol

And I'm for saying Merry Christmas on Christmas and Happy New Year on New Years and in between I say Happy Holidays.

I'm with you, Emma.

I'm all for saying Merry Christmas before Christmas, the day of and even a day or so after if I see someone I hadn't seen at Christmas. Then I start wishing people Happy New Year up till New Years eve and the day or so after.

See, now I'm of the opposite mind. I don't get the whole "you have to be politically correct and say Happy Holidays" thing. I'll wish people a Merry Christmas, because that's the holiday that's coming up. After Christmas, I'm all over the Happy New Year. It'd be like saying Happy Thanksgiving and expecting that to encompass Halloween too. Hmmm. Maybe that only works here in Canada :)
Of course, that all changes if I know for fact that you celebrate one of the others - Hannukkah, Kwanzaa, Ramadan, etc. Then I'll say both.
