Last post of 2005

Saturday, December 31st, 2005

According to the comments on my last post, most people seem to spend the week between Xmas and New Years like I do - a frenzied orgy of nonstop eating.

Luckily we’re home now (DOUBLE YAY!!) and even luckier the only ‘bad for you’ stuff we ended up bring home with us was stuff that I don’t really like anyway.

After I shower I’m going to the grocery store and I’m only going to come back with healty things, heavy on the fruits and veggies. The hubster and I have made a deal for 2006 - I’ll cook more if he promises to not be as picky. I mean part of the reason (aside from laziness) I don’t cook much now is that you can only make the same thing so many times. But with Rachel Ray 365: No Repeats, I’m looking forward to a successful year.

So far on the menu for next week I’ve got: Pork roast (for good luck on Jan 1), pasta with chicken and garlic and spinich and sun dried tomatoes and pine nuts (hubsters not really excited about this one but he promised), a soup to be determined with panini’s, chicken and broccolli mac’n'cheese casserole, and some beefy thing (I don’t cook much red meat ’cause it scares me but if Rachel can do it, I can do it!!)

Here’s to happy eating in 2006!!!

Now, what are you resolutions?

Creative blogging and fullness.

Blogging takes a bit of creativity and I’m out of it.

Do you think there’s a certain amount you get at the beginning of each year and if you use it up early you’re outta luck? Maybe that’s why some of us get blocked and others learn how to procrastinate for weeks on end.

I think I’ve eaten so much in the last week that if I were to take another bite I’d actually explode (unfortunately, I know there’s baklava in the inlaws kitchen so the chances of me NOT eating anything else are very slim).

I’m still at the inlaws until tomorrow morning but I really have to finish up some edits and I’m hoping I’ll have time to get to them today. But the house is in the process of being remodeled so we were assigned lots of jobs to do to keep us busy.

Oh well, my turn in the shower now. How is everyone else spending the week between Xmas and New Years?

After Xmas Shopping

Wednesday, December 28th, 2005

We went to the mall yesterday. The sales were okay, but not great. I didn’t come home with anything fun.

But, we did stop at Barnes and Noble. I didn’t buy anything because I already have a lot of books and I have a gift certificate that I didn’t have with me, but it was a romance section like none I’d ever seen before.

It was pretty much ALL erotic romance - and a lot of straight erotica thrown in.

I was pretty amazed. The new releases section had Jaid Black, Kate Douglas, Emma Holly and a bunch of erotic anthologies. There were a few historicals down on the bottom shelves but that’s about it for the new release section. It was a farily small romance section, only one row of romance books, and they were mostly contemporary and on the spicy side.

I thought it was very interesting.

Anyway, I got a $50 gift certificate for Barnes and Noble. I already have Wolf Tales by Kate Douglas, the new Dark Hunter book by Sherrilyn Kenyon and her new BAD book on my list.

What are some other books I should add to my wishlist?

I have to go drive across PA now. *sigh*

Lazy blogger

Monday, December 26th, 2005

I apologize, but I’ll probably be a bit of a lazy blogger this week - I’m not going to be home until Friday or Saturday and even with my laptop it’s just not as easy to get online for more than five minutes at a time.

So, swiped from Cece:

What Color is Your Soul? {8 results + artsitic pics}

brought to you by Quizilla

Your Soul is Purple - Artist, dreamer, creative. You are lost in your thoughts, and have a dislike of reality (probably finding it boring). You have to remeber that every idea is based off the reality you know. Magic is everyware, you just have to see it. Thinking, and creating things from your mind, are your top priorities (not to mention what your best at). Keep at it, a little imagination can take you far.

What’d Santa Bring You?

Monday, December 26th, 2005

Did you make out this Christmas? I did suprisingly well!

My big present from my Mom, which I already knew about, was a digital SLR Camera. I’m pretty much taking pictures of anything and everything just because I can. And I can only fit 250 more pictures before I have to download!

I got some books (Fangs for the Memories, Jane Millionaire and The Night Before Christmas Brava Anthology, Wicked, Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister and Rachel Ray: 365 Days, no repeats) and some smelly stuff and some crayon-y type things (’cause it’s not Christmas without a toy). And some games and some….uh, other stuff that I can’t remember right now.

The Hubster, who waited ’til the last minute, got me both Firefly and Serenity.

As for him, he got some video games, lots of books and some legos (that toy thing again).

And we both got gift certificates to Barnes and Noble!!

So, what did Santa bring down your chimney?

Merry Christmas to all….

I’m off…

Friday, December 23rd, 2005

So, I’ll pick up my sister at the metro station this afternoon and then we’re off to Pittsburgh…

I’ll be around the blogosphere, I don’t go anywhere with out my laptop and my mom does have wireless internet. And Tuesday I have an author day at the Torrid Readers Group (with my awesome CP and fellow Winter Wishes author Kendra Clark) so come on by. I’ll be giving something away.

But Xmas always seems like a letdown to me. I get SO excited right after Thanksgiving, but by the time December 25th rolls around I’m ready to get the holiday season over with and start the new year.

So, are you ready? Over ready? What do you have left to do? Is it over yet?

Read Twice Upon a Roadtrip

Thursday, December 22nd, 2005

I’m not much on posting about books that I’ve read, mostly because I’m always way behind in my reading so the books I’m reading are already several months (if not older) old. Plus, I’m not so much good at the reviewing thing.

But, I’m going to break that rule (not so much of a rule as a guideline) and talk about Shannon Stacey’s Twice Upon a Roadtrip.

Like I said, I’m a few months behind the new releases but I was waiting to place a big order at EC and finally did it. This was the first book I read, ’cause I’ve been excited about it for a while now.

First of all, I’ve seen the cover serval time, on Shannon’s blog and on the EC website, but it’s much cooler when it’s bigger! It’s like - not cartooney, but digitized or photoshoped or something so it’s more than just a picture. I like it a lot! More even then when I thought it was just a picture.

Now, onto the book itself. This book is freaking hilarious!! It’s got the humor in it that I just really like. Kind of reminicent of the old Duets (which I actually liked as opposed to Flipside which were usually not funny).

And, (and I don’t mean this as a complaint ’cause I really liked the book) the sex was good (well written I mean) and hot, but I almost didn’t want to get to the sex parts because that meant that it wasn’t going to be the funny parts.

So, like I said, I’m not so great at reviews, but this book was great and you should all go out and read it. And I’m kind of excited for Shannon’s first Samhain release, but it sounds like an emotional, rip-your-guts-out book and those aren’t really my favorite. But I’ll read it anyway.

Oh, and just in case my review moved you so much thatyou need to read it right this second, click on the picture and it’ll talk you straight to EC. And I guess I better read that article on reviewing in the latest RWR ’cause I suck at it.

Morning annoyance

Wednesday, December 21st, 2005

So I had to make a quick trip to the grocery store this morning.

First of all, they recently remodeled our Safeway and they did it wrong. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s a much nicer place and they have some better stuff, but they moved the door so now you walk in close to the meat/dairy section. But I don’t like to get that stuff first because then it sits in my cart the whole time. So I have to walk in, then walk to the other side of the grocery store to start, then go through the aisles, then walk all the way back to the other side to check out.

It’s annoying.

But I can deal with it. What I can’t deal with are the people that can’t work the grocery store.

The check out counters haven’t changed but I was in line behind 3 people who couldn’t figure out how to swipe their card.

First you swipe your Safeway card, then the card you’re paying with. YOU FOLLOW THE FREAKING DIRECTIONS ON THE SCREEN!!!

Why are there people who can’t do it? The same thing happens at Target, too.

It’s not like thi sstuff is new. I mean I don’t go to any stores anymore where I actually have to hand my card to a cahsier. They all have the swipe your own card now. So why does it still confuse people?

I don’t get it, but I’m pretty sure that they do it just to annoy me.
