Saturday Soup Day
So, it’s still raining here in my world.
Rained all night, and while I don’t think there was ever any thunder and lightening, the power was out for a few hours in the middle of the night. We slept with the windows open listening to the rain all night.
And this morning, once again, I have no hot water.
Anyway, I’ve decided that this fall, Saturday is going to be Soup Saturday.
How does this involve you?
I want your soup recipies. I beleive I’ve posted before that I turn into a homemade soup fiend during the fall and am always looking for new soup recipies. And I’ll share mine in return.
Of course, I don’t measure or anything so it’s not like these are real recipies. Last night I made French Onion Soup.
Emma’s French Onion Soup:
Onions (I used about 10)
Beef stock (I used 3 cans and then 6 cups of instant bullion)
Spices (I used salt & pepper, dried thyme and crumbled bay leaves)
Cut up the onions and cook in oil and butter. When they’re about half the size they were when I put them in, add the spices, cook a little longer, then add the liquid.
***This makes A LOT of soup. I’d guess about 1 onion/serving would suffice***
So, what’s your favorite kind of soup to make?

I was going to do chili today. It’s been rainy cold here and then today sunny. Wouldn’t you know it. I love soups. My favorites are more stews though. Chili and Brunswick. Love em.

I have some easy recipes: Hamburger Soup and Country
Chicken Chowder.

Tess - What’s Brunswick stew?
Robyn - Hamburger soup sounds like something the Hubster would love!

I like chili, and hamburger soup sounds super tasty. I like brocolli and cheese soup too. I can’t make any soups though, but i am a big fan of the eating of them.

It’s cold today. I’m making chili. Lots of it. I don’t have a recipe though…I just put in whatever I have that I want to put in it  (darnit, I’m starting to sound like my mother!)
